In This Issue

As we publish our annual fall kitchen & bath issue, we’re especially pleased to publish the winners of the inaugural annual design competition, the Calla Awards, of the Georgia chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association. All entries had to meet rigorous industry standards—not just for aesthetics—but for function, safety, and accessibility. We think you’ll agree that the winning entries are not only chic and creative, but wonderfully functional.

We are especially grateful to the award sponsors, the Westye Group (SubZero/Wolf), GE Monogram, Builder Specialties, Kohler, Builders Surplus, and Luxury Kitchens & Baths, If you’re contemplating a kitchen or bath remodeling project, I highly recommend calling a NKBA member. Check out their website at nkbaga.org. They can save you time and costly mistakes.

From the Editor

Back in May, our Atlanta Magazine’s HOME crew had a fun morning shooting a few portraits of Richard Blais in Poggenpohl’s new showroom at Terminus. Blais, then a hot contender on Bravo’s Top Chef, is currently the chef at Tom Catherall’s Home restaurant, formerly Posh, formerly Seeger’s. At our shoot, the master of molecular gastronomy was pouring liquid nitrogen all over Poggenpohl's fabulous quartz countertops. Their new high-tech showroom was the perfect setting for our pages on cutting-edge cooking equipment. We hope you’ll be inspired to experiment in your own kitchen. And if futuristic gadgets are not your thing, we’ve also published some heart-warming stories about getting back to your roots. Visit a chic remodeling project inspired by a couple’s homeland in South Africa, and come savor a harvest party at a family-owned North Georgia vineyard.
